Using a minimal footprint we have in this project designed a small summer cottage to be placed on an island located in a fjord outside Oslo. The cottage is meant to function solely as a summerhouse as it is not insulated, but it still protects against rain and wind. The construction is simple and can easily be raised by two people without heavy machinery. The design takes the beautiful ocean-view into account by making one complete wall a glass window exposing the water outside. To maintain a sense of privacy the windows facing the neighbors are tastefully covered in a wooden panel. The furnishing is minimalistic with a kitchen in the middle of the room. Mounted on a wall is a ladder leading up into the unique sleeping arrangement consisting of a large net. Through the ceiling windows, the residents can watch the night sky from right under the ceiling. In the small outside area, there’s a basic toilet and a shower.
